MY CITY GOTSE DELCHEV

U seriji priloga naših kolega Erasmus+ studenata, koji ovaj semestar provode na Sveučilištu Jurja Dobrile u Puli, ovaj tjedan predstavljamo rodni grad Valentina Popova iz Bugarske - Gotce Delchev. 

Gotse Delchev offers many different places for nature lovers. Here is the nature reserve Orelyak, famous for its beech forests and the resort area of Popovy Meadows, a convenient starting point for Orelyak and the ridge of Thick hill. On the banks of the Delchevska River lies the natural landmark of Chardbeyi, and 1.5 km west of the town.
Gotse Delchev Grow centuries-old chestnut trees "the twins". For lovers of fishing near the river places are offered attractive activities and consumption in the specialised fish restaurant. Delchevo Village, located 8 km away. Above Gotse Delchev has become an architectural reserve with the restored houses.With its unique architecture, icons, frescoes and carving, 35 churches and 3 monasteries in the region of the municipality are also interesting tourist sites. 


The town of Gotse Delchev is the center of Nevrokopska bishopric. Part of the atmosphere of the town are the Renaissance architectural complex of Rifat Bey, the ensembles from the post-liberation buildings in the old central part of the streets "Hristo Botev", "commercial" and "Ivan Vazov", the crafts workshops on the street. It's ringing. 


The wonderful city park, with the most modern facilities for children's entertainment, are wonderful conditions for recreation of the whole family. Around the city there are a lot of sights worth visiting. For example the late-ancient and Roman city "Nicopolis ad Nestum" in the village of Garmen. Then lies the village of Ognyanovo. There are springs of mineral water and respectively have created many SPA hotels that are frequented by a lot of foreign tourists. Above these two villages are located two ancient settlements-Leshten and Kovachevitsa. There are preserved houses that were built in the 18th century.


About the name of the city:

Until 1951 the name of the city was Neurocop. Now the city is named after the great Bulgarian revolutionary Gotse Delchev.
Georgi Nikolov Delchev (Gotse Delchev) was one of the most significant Bulgarian revolutionaries, leader and ideologue of the Bulgarian Macedonian-Edirne Revolutionary Committees, later known as the Internal Macedonian-Edirne Revolutionary Organization. National hero in Bulgaria and North Macedonia. 


In Bulgaria there are several monuments of Gotse Delchev. In 1955 a monument was created in Blagoevgrad. In 1995 a monument was created in the sea capital of Bulgaria - Varna. A monument is located in the center of Gotse Delchev. There is a monument in the capital of Bulgaria Sofia. Monuments also have built Ruse, Dimitrovgrad, popovi livadi area, etc.
