A STROLL TROUGH PULA
AUTHOR: Verónica Merino Rivero
My erasmus destination was going to be a simple city in Croatia near the coast but I couldn’t even imagine how this city could surprise me. Firstly, because of the great richness of culture that I found just on the first walk. I came across with the Arch of the Sergii, this incredible monument is at the beginning of the pedestrian walkway. This well-preserved ancient structure seemed to whisper stories from Roman times, making me realize that every corner of this city held secrets and historical treasures waiting to be discovered. Every street seemed to have its own story to tell, a piece of history to share.
Walking through the old city center I discovered the history of the city, until I reached the most awaited monument of Pula, the coliseum. I had seen photos before, but nothing could prepare me for the sense of awe I felt standing before it. The Arena is truly breathtaking; I expected a simple ancient monument, but its grandeur, scale, and state of preservation left me speechless.
Now, moving toward the breathtaking coastlines, I had the chance to watch a sunset that felt almost surreal, with the sun dipping down to meet the water and painting the sky in shades of pink, orange, and violet. As I sat there with a cocktail in hand, I felt an incredible sense of peace and connection to this place. Talking about leisure activities, I had the opportunity to attend a football match of the team Pula in the stadium. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement from the moment I arrived, and I could feel the energy building as fans filled the stands. To my amazement, the team won, and the entire stadium burst into celebration.
To conclude, I want to describe the breathtaking view of the city’s main port, especially at night when the towering cranes are illuminated. These massive structures light up in vibrant colors, creating a stunning display that reflects over the water. The illuminated cranes have become an iconic sight, adding a unique charm to the city’s skyline and making the waterfront an unforgettable place to visit after dark.
